A.A. Milne: Medvídek Pú (přeložila Hana Skoumalová)    A.A. Milne: WINNIE-THE-POOH
   Czech translation by Hana Skoumalová
KAPITOLA 2,

CHAPTER TWO

1 ve které jde Pú na návštěvu a dostane se do úzkých

1       In which Pooh goes Visiting and gets into a Tight Place

2 Michal Medvěd – známí neřekli jinak než Medvídek Pú, nebo zkrátka Pú – šel jednou Lesem

2       EDWARD BEAR, known to his friends as Winnie-the-Pooh, or Pooh for short, was walking through the forest one day,

3 a pyšně si pobroukával písničku.

3       humming proudly to himself.

4 Složil si ji právě ráno, když dělal před zrcadlem odtučňovací cvičení:

4       He had made up a little hum that very morning, as he was doing his Stoutness Exercises in front of the glass:

5 Tra-la-la, tra-la-la, když se natahoval, co mohl,

5       Tra-la-la, tra-la-la, as he stretched up as high as he could go,

6 a pak Tra-la-la, tra-la-ouvejl – la, když se pokoušel dotknout se prstů na nohou.

6       and then Tra-la-la, tra-la – oh, help! – la, as he tried to reach his toes.

7 Po snídani si to znovu a znovu opakoval,

7       After breakfast he had said it over and over to himself

8 až se to naučil nazpaměť,

8       until he had learnt it off by heart,

9 a teď už to zpíval celé bez chyby;

9       and now he was humming it right through, properly.

10 písnička zněla takhle:

10      It went like this:

11 Tralala, tralala, tralala, tralala,
bum tarara tydlidum.
Tydli fidli, tydli fidli, tydli fidli, tydli fidli,
bum tarara tydlidum.

11      Tra-la-la, tra-la-la,
          Tra-la-la, tra-la-la,
          Rum-tum-tiddle-um-tum...

12 Tak si pobroukával svou písničku a vesele si vykračoval

12      Well, he was humming this hum to himself, and walking along gaily,

13 a přemítal, co asi jiní dělají

13      wondering what everybody else was doing,

14 a jaké to asi je, být někdo jiný,

14      and what it felt like, being somebody else,

15 až najednou přisel k písečnému břehu

15      when suddenly he came to a sandy bank,

16 a v něm byla veliká díra.

16      and in the bank was a large hole.

17 „Aha,“ řekl Pú. (Bum, bum, tydlidum.)

17      "Aha !" said Pooh. (Rum-tum-tiddle-um-tum.)

18 „Jestli vůbec něčemu rozumím, tak tady bydlí Králiček

18      "If I know anything about anything, that hole means Rabbit," he said,

19 a Králiček je můj kamarád,“ řekl,

19      "and Rabbit means Company," he said,

20 ,,a kamarád mí dá něco k snědku a poslechne si mou písničku a tak.

20      "and Company means Food and Listening-to-Me-Humming and such like.

21 Bum tarara tydlidum."

21      Rum-tum-tum-tiddle-um.

22 Sehnul se tedy, strčil opatrně hlavu do veliké tmavé díry a zavolal:

22      So he bent down, put his head into the hole, and called out:

23 ,,Je někdo doma?“

23      "Is anybody at home?"

24 Z díry bylo slyšet cupitání a pak nastalo ticho.

24      There was a sudden scuffling noise from inside the hole, and then silence.

25 ,,Povídám, je někdo doma“? zavolal Pú hodně nahlas.

25      "What I said was, 'Is anybody at home?'" called out Pooh very loudly.

26 „Ne!“ zněla odpověď, a pak se ozvalo:

26      "No!" said a voice; and then added,

27 „Ale nemusíte tak křičet,

27      "You needn't shout so loud.

28 slyšel jsem dobře už poprvé.“

28      I heard you quite well the first time."

29 „To je hloupé!“ řekl Pú. „Copak tu vůbec nikdo není?“

29      "Bother!" said Pooh. "Isn't there anybody here at all?"

30 „Nikdo."

30      "Nobody."

31 Medvídek Pú vytáhl hlavu z díry a chvilku přemýšlel. Napadlo ho:

31      Winnie-the-Pooh took his head out of the hole, and thought for a little, and he thought to himself,

32 „Někdo tam ale musí být, protože někdo musel říct ,Nikdo’.“

32      "There must be somebody there, because somebody must have said 'Nobody.'"

33 A tak zas vstrčil hlavu do díry a řekl:

33      So he put his head back in the hole, and said:
