| 1 „Myslím, že by bylo škoda strkat tě zpátky, když už ses jednou dostal až sem.“ | 1 "I mean,"
said Rabbit, "that having got so far, it seems a pity to waste it." |

| 2 Kryštůfek Robin přisvědčil. | 2 Christopher
Robin nodded. |
|
| 3 „Zbývá nám tedy jen jedno," řekl. | 3 "Then
there's only one thing to be done," he said. |
|
| 4 „Musíme čekat, až zase zhubneš.“ | 4 "We shall
have to wait for you to get thin again." |
|
| 5 „Jak dlouho trvá takové zhubnutí?“ zeptal se Pú ustrašeně. | 5 "How
long does getting thin take?" asked Pooh anxiously. |

| 6 „Asi tak týden, myslím." | 6 "About
a week, I should think." |
|
| 7 „Přece tu ale nemohu zůstat celý týden!“ | 7 "But
I can't stay here for a week!" |
|
| 8 „Zůstat tady můžeš docela dobře, hlupáčku. | 8 "You
can stay here all right, silly old Bear. |
|
| 9 Těžší bude dostat tě ven.“ | 9 It's
getting you out which is so difficult." |
|
| 10 „Budeme ti předčítat,“ řekl Králíček s úsměvem. | 10 "We'll read
to you," said Rabbit cheerfully. |

| 11 „A doufám, že nebude padat sníh,“ dodal. | 11 "And I hope
it won't snow," he added. |

| 12 „A víš, kamaráde, zabíráš mi tam uvnitř hodně místa | 12 "And I say,
old fellow, you're taking up a good deal of room in my house – |

| 13 – nevadilo by ti, kdybych si udělal z tvých zadních nohou věšák na ručníky? | 13 do you mind
if I use your back legs as a towel-horse? |

| 14 Víš, nejsou tam stejně k ničemu, a na ty ručníky se docela dobře hodí.“ | 14 Because, I
mean, there they are – doing nothing – and it would be very convenient
just to hang the towels on them." |

| 15 „Celý týden!“ řekl Pú zachmuřeně. | 15 "A week!"
said Pooh gloomily. |

| 16 „A co jídlo?" | 16 "What about
meals?" |
|
| 17 „Kdepak jídlo, to nebude,“ řekl Kryštůfek Robin, „abys rychleji zhubl. | 17 "I'm afraid
no meals," said Christopher Robin, "because of getting thin quicker.

| 18 Ale předčítat ti budeme určitě.“ | 18 But we will
read to you." |

| 19 Medvídek začal vzdychat, ale ani to mu nešlo, protože byl zmáčknut v otvoru, | 19 Bear began
to sigh, and then found he couldn't because he was so tightly stuck;

| 20 a z oka se mu skutálela slzička, když žadonil: | 20 and a tear
rolled down his eye, as he said: |

| 21 „Budeš mi tedy aspoň číst nějakou konejšivou knihu, abys povzbudil a potěšil Medvěda, který uvízl a je ve veliké tísni?" | 21 "Then would
you read a Sustaining Book, such as would help and comfort a Wedged Bear
in Great Tightness?" |

| 22 A tak po celý týden předčítal Kryštůfek Robin takovou knihu Medvídkovi Pú na severním konci, | 22 So for a week
Christopher Robin read that sort of book at the North end of Pooh,

| 23 a Králíček zatím věšel ručníky na jižním konci… | 23 and Rabbit
hung his washing on the South end . . . |
|
| 24 a uprostřed cítil Medvěd, jak čím dál tím víc hubne. | 24 and in between
Bear felt himself getting slenderer and slenderer. |
|
| 25 A na konci týdne řekl Kryštůfek Robin: „Teď!“ | 25 And at the
end of the week Christopher Robin said, "Now!" |
|
| 26 Chytil Medvídka za přední pracky | 26 So he took
hold of Pooh's front paws |

| 27 a Králíček se chytil Kryštůfka Robina | 27 and Rabbit

| 30 A dlouho volal Pú jenom: „Ouvej!" | 30 And for a
long time Pooh only said "Ow!" ... |

| 31 [...] | 31 And "Oh!"
... |

| 32 A pak najednou zvolal: „Hop!“, jako když vyletí zátka z láhve. | 32 And then,
all of a sudden, he said "Pop!" just as if a cork were coming out of
a bottle. |
|
| 33 A Kryštůfek Robin a Králíček a všichni Králíčkovi příbuzní a známí se svalili… | 33 And Christopher
Robin and Rabbit and all Rabbit's friends and relations went head-over-heels
backwards . . . |
|
| 34 A navrch na tu hromadu se svalil vysvobozený Pú! | 34 and on the
top of them came Winnie-the-Pooh – free! |
|
| 35 Všem vděčně pokynul a pokračoval ve své procházce Lesem a sebevědomě si pobroukával. | 35 So, with
a nod of thanks to his friends, he went on with his walk through the
forest, humming proudly to himself. |
|
| 36 Ale Kryštůfek Robin se za ním láskyplně díval a řekl: | 36 But, Christopher
Robin looked after him lovingly, and said to himself, |
|
| 37 „Ty hloupoučký Medvěde!“ | 37 "Silly old
Bear!" |
