Robert Creeley

Robert Creeley who writes with a terse, minimalist style, was one of the major Black Mountain poets. In "The Warning" (1955), Creeley imagines the violent, loving imagination:

behind the eyes.

Love is dead in us
if we forget
the virtues of an amulet
and quick surprise
